The sacred heart has appeared throughout my work for years as a symbol of devotion, love, resilience, and the things we choose to nurture throughout our lives.
For this piece, I reimagined the traditional sacred heart through the lens of Hawaiʻi's natural landscape. Passionflower blooms, curling lilikoi vines, ripening fruit, and tropical botanicals weave together to create a heart that feels alive, growing, and deeply rooted in the natural world.
Painted in watercolor on handmade deckled edge paper, Lilikoi Sacred Heart reflects the beauty of transformation and abundance. The composition celebrates both the delicate and resilient qualities found in nature, reminding us that growth often happens quietly, one season at a time.
