About

Liliane Avalos

A multidisciplinary artist based on Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi, whose work explores the intersection of nature, identity, and transformation. Working primarily in black and grey across tattooing, watercolor, linocut, and mural painting, her practice is rooted in creating emotionally resonant imagery that feels both grounded and otherworldly.

Her visual language draws from tropical landscapes, sacred symbolism, and organic form, blending elements of flora, fauna, and the human experience into compositions that feel alive, intentional, and deeply personal. Each piece is created with a focus on detail, texture, and flow, resulting in work that carries both strength and softness.

Originally from Texas, Liliane’s journey as an artist has taken her across the world, with creative chapters in Bali, Dubai, Japan, and now Hawaiʻi. These global influences are woven into her work, while her current life on Kauaʻi continues to shape her connection to land, culture, and natural rhythm.

Beyond aesthetics, her work is centered on meaning. Themes of healing, transformation, and remembrance are recurring throughout her collections, often expressed through sacred heart imagery, botanical elements, and symbolic compositions that invite reflection and connection.

In addition to her fine art practice, Liliane is an established tattoo artist specializing in black and grey realism. Her approach to tattooing mirrors her work on paper, intentional, refined, and deeply collaborative, creating permanent pieces that hold personal significance for each client.

Her work has been exhibited in local galleries on Kauaʻi and collected by clients worldwide. Through original works, limited editions, and wearable art, she continues to build a body of work that is both intimate and enduring.

Artist Statement

My work is a reflection of transformation, of becoming, of remembering, of returning to self.

I’m drawn to the natural world and the symbolism within it. Plants, animals, and organic forms all carry a kind of quiet intelligence, and I use them as a language to express emotion, memory, and connection. Much of my work centers around the heart, both literal and symbolic, as a way to explore themes of love, resilience, and healing.

There is a balance I’m always seeking: softness and strength, control and surrender, structure and flow. I want my work to feel grounded but alive, something that holds presence.

Living on Kauaʻi has deepened that connection for me. The environment here, the light, the movement, the energy of the land, continues to influence the way I see and create. It has taught me to slow down, to observe more closely, and to create with intention.

Whether it’s a painting, a print, or a tattoo, my goal is the same: to create something that resonates. Something that feels personal. Something that lasts.
